San Francisco, CA – The Coalition for 21st Century Medicine (C21) is pleased to announce that it has engaged Ms. Hannah Murphy as its inaugural executive director. “We are excited to have Hannah lead the expansion of our capabilities to serve our industry and patient health,” says Kim Popovits, President and CEO, Genomic Health and member of the C21 Steering Committee, “The rapid developments and expanding impact of personalized medicine creates tremendous opportunities for C21 and the new Executive Director position will help us best capitalize on these opportunities and respond to these challenges.”
As Executive Director of C21, Ms. Murphy will serve as the primary contact and spokesperson for the organization and will represent the organization in all professional business capacities. Ms. Murphy will be responsible for developing new programming, managing member relations, enhancing external relations, and supporting the continued growth of C21. Her legislative and policy expertise includes biotechnology and biosimilars, Medicare and Medicaid reimbursement policy, medical devices, diagnostics, vaccines, health information technology, and women’s health.
“I look forward to the opportunity to work with the Coalition members, policy-makers, and the diagnostics community to support regulatory and reimbursement policy that promotes continuous innovation and faster access to advanced diagnostic tests,” said Ms. Murphy. She further noted that “joining together drives our ability to assure that timely and accurate information is available to patients and their physicians when they need it. It’s the bedrock of precision medicine.”
Ms. Murphy is a graduate of California State University, Chico and most recently worked for the University of California, San Francisco in Government Affairs. Previously, she served as a legislative assistant for a senior member of the U.S. House of Representatives Energy and Commerce Committee, managing a health and science legislative portfolio spanning Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority (BARDA), Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), Food and Drug Administration (FDA), and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Ms. Murphy has been retained on an exclusive basis to serve in the capacity of Executive Director as an employee of Goldbug Strategies LLC, a strategy and regulatory consulting firm providing professional consulting services to the Coalition since 2011.
